Hey Kevin, The first time I played my set live it was kind of surreal. It sounded as if someone else was playing because there was no drum sounds underneath you, like with an acoustic set. The other members of the band were also a litle confused as there was no drum sounds coming from behind them. Everything was up front. Just a few suggestions. 1. Get monitors as close as possible. Try putting an amp or monitor behind the drums so you can here yourself. An amp for your set is the best. You can mic the amp through the pa and still here yourself. 2. Bring headphones just in case. 3. Don't try to play louder if you can't here yourself. This only causes false triggers and mis-hits. Let the amp, PA control most of the volume. 4. Cymbal sounds seem to be a real problem with electronic drums. Don't know what to tell ya there. Perhaps bring some acoustic cybals just in case.
