Sorry. I seem to have misunderstood (3). If your crash cymbal is 
choking on its own when you strike it with authority, the problem is 
probably a matter of technique. As my fellow members said, you 
should be able to correct it by angling the cymbal so that the stick 
is not so likely to hit the rim, even without you noticing it; 
striking it a slight angle, as if you were giving it more a glancing 
blow than a head-on collision; and/or--last, though certainly not 
least--not striking it so hard. Power after a point definitely does 
not pay dividends on an electronic kit. The rewards reach a plateau 
at a low threshold.
