Connecting Stickmaster to Laptop via Serial Port

2003-04-30 by bpocred

Hi Guys.

Over the past few nights I have attempted in vain to connect my
DTXPRESS to my laptop using the CCIBM Serial To-Host cable. For a
rundown of my hardware here it is. I have a Dell Latitude CP-XJ
running Windows 2000. The onboard sound card is an ESS Maestro.

I purchased the Serial To Host cable last week and expected that I
would be able to connect the DTXPRESS to my notebook through the
serial port. I dowloaded the Yamaha CBX drivers for this process but
so far I have been unable to establish any communication between the
two. Last night I downloaded the DTXCHANGE SysEx utility from
DTXpressions but I did not establish any connection either.

When using Stickmaster I receive error messages of the following
format:

"Cannot change the MIDI Device (output)"
Inside this software I cannot set my the Output device to be the
Yamaha DVX A driver.

Can anyone who has experience using the serial port to connect to the
To Host port on the DTXpress please advise on these issues.
Many thanks in advance,
Brian
