Re: Looking for DTXpress II , MIDI help

2003-02-24 by Brett <baaron_123@yahoo.com>

Hello, everyone! I've been reading the posts about the DTXpress2 not
interacting with a MIDI interface on their PC, and I'm a little
confused as to why people are quick to blame Yamaha on this.
Granted, it may be Yamaha's flaw in the design, and let's hope it
isn't, but what about our end of the problem. A few days ago, I also
had purchased a program to run on my PC, got some MIDI cables, pluged
everything in, and got no response from the program. After
researching the problem, I came to realize that it was my PC that was
the problem. My soundcard was incapable of decyphering the MIDI
signals being sent out by the module. I still had the origianl sound
card in my PC from when i bought it, and it was a pretty lame one. I
looked around for a cheap card capable of handling atleast 128 MIDI
voices, had a MIDI interface such as a joystick plug on the card, and
was ready to rock 'n' roll (I like Turtle Beachs' Santa Cruz sound
card. Infact, they make them for MIDI users like us!). I know I may
be the lucky one, as far as connecting my module to my PC and getting
positive results, but let's not rush to blame a company for something
that may be still overlooked. I'm not trying to sound like I work
for the company, but I'm a firm believer that all facts should be
found before passing judgemnet on something. I really hope that I'm
right about this problem being on our end, I'd really hate to think
that we have all purchased a semi-inferior product that isn't what we
thought it would be. Good luck with discovering the problem before
us!
