firstly, thanks to everyone who has taken the time to answer a reluctant critic like me. Secondly, I wonder whether someone would be kind enough to do me a large favour and record a few bars of their favourite dtxpress kit onto a wav? A lot to ask i know, but it might convince me to drive all the way to the store again! A wav file would be ace if its just 10 seconds or so of audio, as i dont think mp3 does any justice to the highs and lows really. There doesn't seem to be a great deal in the file section of the website. I accept what people are saying about the quality of reproduction, but i took my own beyerdynamic DT100 cans, and although I've heard much better headphones, I should have still been okay with these IMHO. I'm trying desparately to avoid expecting a true simulation of an analogue kit from what is an essentially limited piece of digital eqipment, I know that that is asking too much, but just something approaching it would be fine. One of the advantages of my situation is that I'm not that bothered about the real nuances of live playing and the complexities of real cymbal waveforms etc - I just want a kik that doesn't sound like a half-baked casio demo, snare and toms that don't sound like 80s metal or the start of eastenders (i'm from the uk!) and cymbals with at least a vaguely usable envelope with no phasing artefacts. What I'm trying to say is that i'm not a purist or anything, but you've gotta draw the line somewhere! :-) The other thing is - I still really want one!!!!!
