Ya
Know?
Age
isn't the issue. I myself have resumed playing after 30 years away. The Yamahas
meet my needs perfectly for now. Since I have not played any drums in that
period, I find myself wondering how they compare to acoustics. Seems like I'm
losing a bunch of dynamic range, and the fact that the edge switch on the crash
only gives me 1 loudness is frustrating. The beauty is that I don't bother my
family while playing and that I am engaged with music in a way that I missed
sorely during the many years of struggling to make a living and raise children.
Plus it is a nice aerobic workout.
Naturally I think about playing with other musicians
from time to time- but am presently daunted by the cost of getting gig-ready. I
wonder if some used acoustics won't meet my needs better at that
point.
Welcome to this friendly and very helpful
group.

You'll love em!
Undertheheaven:
I most definitely prefer the Es over the As. I do, however, miss the
cymbals. I love cymbals.
Lib:
No, I'm using the single trigger 14 inchers. I sometime switch back
to the Yam pads. I tried the ZB2s but couldn't get the gain and
minvel to get them to react right. I also tried the Roland CY6s, but
didn't care for the feel. BTW, I'm closing in on 47.
To All:
Thanks for the welcome.
