Yamaha DTXpress/DTXplorer/DTXtreme

Hey,

I have a pretty good offer for a DTXpress ($500 Canadian.. I'm 
assuming this is worth it). The guy I'm buying it from does not seem 
to know very much about electronic drums, so I've been doing a lot of 
research on the DTXpress, and one thing I'm want to know is how to 
recognize what model I'm getting.

The DTXpress II has a 3-zone snare pad, as well as a two-zone cymbal 
pad, right? It also has an orange cross-bar that adds extra support 
to the frame, right?

Is there anything else I can look out for in order to figure out if 
I'm getting a DTXpress, DTXpress II, or some weird hybrid?

How long ago did the DTXpress II come out?

Also, is there anything in particular I should look into or test out 
before I buy this? I'm currently in University and really don't want 
to waste $500.

My main purpose in getting an electronic kit is for quiet practice. I 
have several acoustic kits which I use on tour, and I have no 
intentions of ever bringing this thing out on the road. (In case that 
helps).

I've also gone through this message board, and there seems to be a 
lot of arguing concerning the quality of the crash cymbal sounds. 
Anyone want to vouch for this?
