Everyone,
I'd like to settle this stick thing once and for all. When I originally
e-mailed everyone about using larger sticks for a fatter sound, I meant
just that. I didn't mean to say that you can actually make the sound
LOUDER. Actually, I don't remember saying that at all but if I did, I
apologize. Anyway, all I mean by saying that a larger stick sounds
better is that it provides for MORE sound (more sonic vibrations, if you
will). The difference being like taking a big bite of cake as opposed to
a small bite --it doesn't taste any different, just more. Besides, this
is just MY ear talking. Whatever works for you is your deal, and that's
great. I just happened to notice a marked difference between a 5A and a
marching stick, as well as mallets. I consider this to be a strong point
of the DTXpress--the more it can pick up on the better. I'm glad the
pads were built to understand the difference between a small thing and a
big thing. Also, I don't think anyone should use what they don't like.
Drumming is a personal matter first of all, and you decide what works for
you. EXPERIMENT, EXPERIMENT, EXPERIMENT!!! I hope that clears any
questions up on the stick issue.

Next up, I've also been wandering about the geography of the list. It
must be world wide, Graham, because I'm in the states (Lawrence, Kansas
to be exact--about 30 minutes by car from Charlie Parkers home town). I
know a couple of others on the list are from the states as well, and then
a couple are from the UK. What about everyone else?

Third, I was wandering what everyone thought about advertising this list.
I found out about it a few months ago from the archives of a bulletin
board at a WWW drum site (can't remember the name), but I'm sure it's
been deleted since. I would gladly post info here and there about the
list, if everyone thinks it's a good idea. I don't know, it may get too
crowded eventually. Today I received 7 messages form this list alone!
On the other hand, the more people we have the more of an info. base we
will have to draw from. What's up?

Good drumming to you all,
Aaron
