Yamaha DTXpress/DTXplorer/DTXtreme

These are points well taken. But the unknown variable here is just 
how loud the next guy needs to hear the crude mix through the 
headphone jacks. I consider myself a loud player, but I am satisfied 
with the relative levels of the kit and the aux source through 
headphones without the aid of mixer or amp. I am willing to bet that 
with the global volume turned up all the way in the utility mode and 
decent phones, most users will not be troubled. And decent phones do 
not have to carry a tag of $250. A considerably less expensive 
closed design will work wonders. My Sennheiser 535s--an open model--
listed for $170; I bought them at close out for &75 or so. I've 
heard of people getting them for $60 or less. That much money is not 
out of the question for owners of the DTXPRESS. But anyone who 
expects to plug in his walkman phones and bang away is in for a rude 
awakening.

By the way, thanks to everyone in the group for the valuable 
discussion. I tuned in while I was waiting for my kit. When it 
arrived, I was pretty well schooled in the basics to set it up 
quickly (and then contact Yamaha about my faulty KP60, but that is 
another matter altogether).
