buy it. just do it. I'm in your shoes - I'm 38 and bought mine 2 years ago. I run it throught headphones using a mixer and a 30 watt home stereo amp. The stress relief is a godsend when you can beat the crap out of a rubber pad, produce awesome sounds, and not disturb anyone. The DTXPRESS is the most impressive / quality / professional kit in it's price range - actually, i don't think there is anything else in this price range. DON'T BUY A USED KIT - The pads go bad, the HH wears out, the kick pad sensor goes - the mounts strip ... just avoid the hassle and buy it new. $1000 or less should get you going. http://www.americanmusical.com/ will let you make no interest payments ( $200/mo ).
