I'm glad to see I'm not the only middle aged guy on this list.
I bought a DTxpress last year at Christmas when my 11 year old daughter
said she wanted a drum kit. To save everyone's sanity, I got a DTxpress
and am very happy with it. I'm not a drummer either, (played guitar for
30 years) so I couldn't justify the cost of the V-drums. I really
enjoyed
the kit. I can play at night without disturbing anyone, It's great.
The only thing I found disappointing at first was the low headphone
volume.
This can be corrected by getting a decent set of Sony Headphones and
editing
the volume and EQ settings on the brain. It takes a little digging in
the manual
but after making those adjustments I'm happy with the unit.
Good luck and Merry Christmas
