Re: Drums on Rock Band Video Game.

2008-02-15 by Mike

I know I'm jumping into a month and a half old post, but I just
wanted to say thanks for recommending DTXmania. I set it up on my
drum PC and it's working like a champ. This "game" makes drumming
that much more fun. I like how you can use your drum pads to navigate
the menus, the snare cycles songs, the ride is like hitting enter.

For anyone that's interested in trying, let me try to make it a
little easier to get going

1) Get any midi to USB adapter besides the Midisport Uno. If you
already have a Midisport Uno, run over it with your car, or give it
to someone you don't like. I use the Yamaha UX16
(http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Yamaha-UX16-USB-MIDI-
Interface?sku=332007) I'm in the US, don't know where to get in UK
2) Make sure your midi is set to trigger out in the settings. This
will not affect your daily non-midi playing that I've noticed. Make
sure you set your latency as low as possible, I think 2ms
3) Get MidiMonitor from here
(http://www.dtxpressions.com/files/wmw.exe) and make sure your
computer is seeing the notes. Before getting frustrated, reboot your
computer and see if it helps.
4) Register at http://www.gdamania.net/ . They don't send
confirmation emails to activate your account, so you can use bogus
info if you want
5) Download DTXmania
http://www.gdamania.net/modules/wfdownloads/visit.php?cid=59&lid=791
Just make a new folder on your hard drive and put the files in it
6) Download songs at http://www.gdamania.net/modules/wfdownloads/ The
last link at the bottom of the first column is Pop/Rock and has a
bunch of songs in it
7)For each song you download, just make sure it's in it's own folder
inside the DTXmania program folder
8) Fire up DTXmania and pick a song and go!
