I use a Peavey SP unit (with the SX front end to record samples).

These are now quite old but I find them excellent - it's still the 
main sampler I use in the studio for everything, not just drums.

Only 16 part poly but if you're just using it for drums this 
shouldn't be a problem.

You should be able to pick them up really cheap (if you can actually 
find someone willing to part with one!).
