It might be worth checking the voltages whatever power supply you choose is
actually putting out with a multi/voltmeter before you plug it into the DTX
module. I say that because I bought such a power adapter from Maplin
(Electronics shop in England, don't know if they're multinational)... and on
the 9v setting it was actually kicking out 14.7v. I had to set it to 5v to
get the required 9v out of it.
Just don't want you to be frying your precious drum module :) Maybe Radio
Shack stuff's better made/less faulty.
