That's a pretty good idea to reinforce from the tube from the 
inside. I 'thought' I heard before that 1.5" is a standard.

Now that OGD posted a link -

a 'Generic' tube (1.5") in lenths from 1 ft, up to 12 ft and they 
are already painted black to boot, I think I'll look into 
the 'single' long lenth option. 
My rack is gonna' be rockin'...err..hopefully NOT rockin' that is :)
