It was a joint venture between me and Brian LaRue, who until recently
ran Pintech. Brian wanted to extend Pintech's reach as far as
possible, the idea being to work on the innovations and improvements
that e-drummers wanted most in everything from pads to modules. I had
a wish list post pop up once a week to remind everyone about the
opportunity, but it never really took off per se, and understandably.
Most members would rather spend their limited free time playing than
designing or speculating about new components. But it wasn't a
complete bust. Brian brought Pintech much closer to the Yamaha
community; he is himself a self-professed Yamaha fanatic. Pintech
meshes became more popular among DTX and DTXpress users, and some of
Pintech's cymbals were designed with Yamaha modules in mind.
Unfortunately for us and for Pintech, Brian moved to California to
take a position with Taye Drums and work on soundtracks. Who knows
whether Pintech will follow through on his plans? When Brian surfaces
here again, I'm sure that he will continue to be a strong advocate
for more and better e-drum products. Also, we have seen a few
utilities developed, or intiated, by members of this board--a text
editor for the DTXPII, an input expander geared toward modules with
stereo inputs, and lately another elaborate PC program underway for
setting parameters and dumping DTX data.

This board has a very good relationship with the e-drum division at
Yamaha. One of my fellow moderators, OGD, has had a running dialogue
for some time with he who shall henceforth be named Yamahammer about
all sorts of issues. If you post a good idea at DTXperience--let
alone here--I guarantee that someone with authority will see it.
