Complete sequence before changing presets

Complete sequence before changing presets

2008-02-18 by J Lesser

Hey Folks.

re: MEK

I know this has been covered here, however I'm not finding it due
either to lack of coffee or bad search queries.

How does one insure the current sequence will finish when manually
switching between rhythmic presets (keeping everything in time)? I
believe its a key combination and not a global setting but I cant find
it in either the manual or the Definitive Guide.

Thanks in advance!

On the MED you hold down the shift key and then change programs.
I don;t know if there's a similar command on the PEK/MEK/PEK though

a while back moof sent this sysex info to the list:

Hi jmw

I guess this has been answered somewhere but i couldnt find it on the
the forum.
But after a little fiddling about I found out how to do it.

...there is a system exclusive message that you can send to turn the
shift key on and another to turn it off.

So what you need to do is:
1) Send a system exclusive message to turn shift key on
F0 01 20 01 13 F7
2) Send your program change message on the appropriate midi channel
3) Send a system exclusive message to turn shift key off
F0 01 20 01 14 F7
I left a small gap between each message..

I have this working on my MPC1000 connected to a desktop evolver.

Everything now stays nicely in sync with the Ev sequence changing at
the end of the bar :-).. cool

cheers

Yeah, hold down the shift key. I really wish this was something you
could just turn on or off, like Seq Lock, which is far less essential.

still saving up for my MEK, but this concerns me a tad.

can someone please verify whether the MEK has a knob/button
combination to switch programs in mid-sequence but not start the new
sequence until Beat One, as on the MED? thanks...

From Andrew McGowan of Dave Smith Instruments:

On the MEK, you can hold Sequence Edit while changing programs. The PEK
does not have that feature.

DSI Support for a used product?

2008-03-13 by Iain Bryden

Hi,

I'm looking to buy a used PEK, MEK or a Poly Evolver rack. Does anyone
know what DSI's policy on support is for second hand products (including
the editing software)? I know some companies will have nothing to do
with you if you're not the original buyer.

When I bought my Desktop Evolver used a few months ago, DSI was more
than happy to transfer the license of the software editor to my name
from the original owner. I don't know if that is policy or just what
they/he did in my case.

Re: DSI Support for a used product?

2008-03-14 by Sean Hart

i have a second hand desktop evolver and i lost two of the knobs
playing a show. sent an email to DSI asking how much it would be to
get a couple of new knobs and they sent them to me for free.

i would say whenever you get your evolver, register it on the site.
