I could be wrong, but I think that it was Dave assisting Roger on the adrenalin that got him excited about doing a hardware synth. Perhaps the same board manufacture was used. The similarities are a small box with a matrix method of working presets, other than that it is not like all the knobs and buttons are the same at all. I don't know which of them came up with the small box, matix solution, but it is clear that they share the same design choices. I don't know to what extent roger worked on the Evolver. I know he had a beta (or alpha) at least and did some sounds on the sound page.
