This surely must be due to the "VCA Level" parameter (row 4, knob 1 on the Evolver's front panel), which should normally be set to 0; if set to a non-zero value, it will create a constant drone effect like you're hearing. [I don't know where that parameter is in the editor software though.] It might be a slight source of confusion that the Evolver VCA has three separate "volume like" parameters: (1) VCA Level, which sets the _minimum_ VCA level, (2) VCA Env Amt, which determines how much the VCA envelope effects the volume, and (3) VCA Volume, which scales the output level. I think normally the "VCA Level" and "Env Amt" parameters are set to 0 and 100 respectively, and "VCA Volume" used to control the output level.
