Well, although I haven't tried it yet myself, some synths (at least my 
JP8080) have the ability to remap out the midi data output from the midi out 
as a result of moving their controls. I think I could set up my jp8080 such 
that all the functions would correstpond to the evolver and control it. Sure 
it wouldn't be as comprehensive as all the evolver functions, but it would 
cover the basics pretty well. I wonder if a knob laden synth like the virus 
can do that?  If it can't I am sure you can place a computer with some 
software inbetween any synth that sends out controller data from its surface 
and the evolver to give it more meaningful control than say 64 knobs on a 
box. Just an idea.
