It bugged me a little bit, too, at first. Then I did a reality check... I have power switches on almost every other piece of music/audio gear. I asked myself how often I use those switches. My answer? Never. Everything is plugged into heavy duty power strips, which have their own on/off switches. The power strips, in turn, are plugged into a pair of 500-VA UPS's, which also have on/off switches. I use the switches on the power strips to turn everything on and off. Leaving the power switch off the Evolver saved some cost, complexity, and space. Did it save a LOT? No, but all those little things add up, and I'm quite happy with the very low cost, simplicity, and small size of the Evolver. I think that the vast majority of the compromises and design decisions that Dave made on the Evolver were excellent.
