Which CZ Librarian for Win 7/8?

Which CZ Librarian for Win 7/8?

2015-03-09 by scifiartman@...

I have many CZ sysex files and I was wondering what other CZ users are using to transfer banks to and from your PC and CZ under Windows 8 (maybe even x64)? Thanks!

Hi! I Have no problem with this litle program for sendig banks to my CZ-101.

Try CZlib, is a sysex comunication program for sending or receiving banks to CZ- Series.
Mostly CZ-101, 1000, 3000 or 5000.

Go here, in software section on the right: Casio CZ-101 | Vintage Synth Explorer

Wow! Isn't CZlib from the Win 98 or 3.1 era? Could I ask you what OS and bit depth you are using this program on? Also, why didn't you mention CZ-1? (I don't have one, but I've been considering getting one). Thanks so much!

No, no problem using Windows 7 64 bits, so you can use it for you sysex dumps o requests.

This program is not for Casio CZ-1 but works fine with the others.
Rewards!

Thank you for this surprising info, SoundProgramer! I'm really shocked more people here aren't transferring sysex files (or using a modern Win OS), as there are so many impressive patches available for the CZs!

There's even a whole world of new sounds to be explored by modifying the CZ sysex data with a hex editor to achieve parameters beyond the front panel limitations, including new wave mix combos, etc.! But all that is pointless if there is no means to transferring that new data from a modern PC to your CZ!?!?

At least we have CZlib, I guess...! Thanks again SP!

Thank you for that surprising info, SoundProgramer! I would have never considered trying CZlib due to its age. And I'm really shocked more CZ users in this group don't transfer sysex patches and banks to and from their PCs (or maybe they just don't care to share how they do it), as there are so many wonderful patches available for the CZs!!!

There's even a whole world of new sounds available by modifying the CZ sysex info to access parameters beyond the front panel limitations, like new wave combos, etc.. But there's little point if you don't have a solid means of transferring that data from a modern PC to your CZ!?

Thanks again!

So what options are there for CZ1 editor and/or librarian?

I know there is the excellent VirtualCZ but @ £60, it is a bit pricey when I just want an editor and not the VSTi stuff.

thanks,

Paul

I've been using the CZ-101 Patch Editor (free from Coffeeshopped) on my MacBook Air, and it should work with anything except the CZ-1. I've even had some success with it on the CZ-230S!

And if you've got an iPad/iPhone, the same guy makes an iOS CZ Editor called CZ Touch ($15) that is just awesome. Just hook up your device through a Camera Connection Kit and a USB-MIDI adapter, and you're making edits in real-time. The "Randomize" button is amazeballs, 1 out of 5 times. Plus you can send the resulting SysEx files to yourself from the app to have on hand as a back-up (and I think he's working on the app being able to receive and load SysEx files as well). Again, should work on 101, 1000, 3000, and 5000. I've had the same limited success with the 230S (and forwarded the details to him on how it works), but right now no CZ-1 support because of the different file structure.

Sorry about the blank email I sent last night. I was trying to use the
Yahoo Groups web interface and it totally sabotaged my post.

I was just trying to write that for full CZ-1 support and full hidden
features support, you can try the apps that I wrote for the CZ. These
are CZSYSEXY and CZWIGOUT.

CZSYSEXY is a patch editor and librarian for CZ-101 through CZ-1.
http://www.kasploosh.com/projects/CZ/CZSYSEXY/

CZWIGOUT is a random path creator with control over which parameters
are randomized, and which are not.
http://www.kasploosh.com/projects/CZ/CZWIGOUT/

Both are desktop apps that should run on Windows/Mac/Linux. Both
support CZ-101, CZ-1000, CZ-3000, CZ-5000, CZ-1, maybe others.

These do not communicate directly with the CZ, but rather create sysex
files which you then send to the CZ with MidiOx (Windows), SysEx
Librarian (Mac), amidi (Linux), or whatever you prefer for your
platform.

If you want to get more out of your CZ-1, maybe try one of these? I
wrote both of these, so if you don't like them, send all insults and
hate mail to robot@....

Any more replies or suggestions on what librarian(s) to use to transfer sysex patches and banks to and from your PC and CZ under Windows 7/8?

So far we have:
1) CZlib (which was designed for Win95!?)
2) MIDIOX.

What else are you guys using, hmmm???

Thanks!

Hi
I've tried to import sysex user patches into my cz-1 with bome.
I put protection off and enabled sysex on the cz-1.

Although it said "nnn bites sent" nothing changed on the cz-1 after the send sysex process.
I've tried lower speed (310bites/s) but no success.

Can you explain how to configure it correctly?

Thx
