hello everyone i'm new and i'm going to get a casio CZ5000 ,

any advice for a patch editor for an old macbook to transfert sounds,

and another question i saw cartridges for sale, do they do any difference or can you just program the same sounds by yourself ? just curious , i'm really not familiar with midi but hope to be able to make turn under logic and ableton !! oh and if there cool patches to download to get a quick start with nice sounds i would love it ;)

I have no idea about Mac software, but if you want to transfer patches (as opposed to edit them) and songs, you might be able to use a sequencer or other utility which can (1) send sysex commands to request patches and songs, (2) receive sysex data dumps, and (3-5) save, load, and transfer banks of sysex data.

wow this is so complex for me, i understand nothing in coding and midi.... a new journey starts, i didn't figure it with ableton live 8 nor under an old logic pro, i see people who sale patches for cz series on ebay , i'm about to get one of them, just not sure yet...

plus my cz 5000 has bugs bank a and B button don't work
and if i press 1 it lights up the light of 5 but puts the good sound and then 5 , 6, 7, and 8 button don't work.... argl.....i'll try to fix this but am a little anxious as to open it for now...did anyone get such bugs ???

ok answer THANK YOU to Chadwick wood, who did an app for ipad called cz touch , its greats and got a random button to make out of space new patches that you can export.

So for newbies like me if you want to load patches to the cz you can use

Sysex Librarian, wich is free

It sounds like the solution you found does all of the things I was describing (and more)--even if you didn't understand. Good luck.

The CZ-5000 has a special place in my heart. It was really the first of the new wave of digital synthesizers which I used to mine the internal data format accessible via system exclusive midi communications (aka sysex). The CZ-5000 sequencer is actually capable of getting smaller duration values than available through the front panel. Also, by editing the sequencer data externally and sending it back into the CZ, you can set certain parameters so that the sequencer plays notes >>only<< via midi (such as to an external sound module), leaving you play up to 16 single line (DCO/DCW/DCA) notes at a time from the keyboard itself.

Anyhow, enjoy the CosmoSynthesizer!

cool information, its just i'm really bad with midi and connections, actually i have patches that are not .syx format and can't figure out how to send them in the CZ5000, lol i 've only figure out how to send .syx patches with sysex librarian and how to change the midi bank and programme thru the computer with ableton , what software do you use please ?

Hi, I'm the maker of CZ Touch. It currently does not support the CZ-1, because of a difference in MIDI specs with that model. I'm working on adding support, but I'm not sure when it will happen.
