do cz-5000 and cz-1000 use the same patches ?

Hi! No, no conversion necessary. CZ-5000 patches are fully compatible with CZ-1000,3000 and CZ-101 because there is no difference in synthesizer structure block.
Same patches may only require some octave adjustament if patches where designed on 4 octave keyboards, but no difference at all.

Rewards!

Have you tried it?...

It should be possible. Check the manual(s); if anything like the CZ-1, they will specifically tell you what the compatibility is + how to use it.

Also, board staff, polite request: approving posts more frequently would stop people from duplicating them 3 times after thinking they'd been lost.

Thanks for the answer.

I went for a second CZ-1000 now.

The CZ-5000 was my alternative, but I was in fear to render my patches useless.

BTW: Posting 3 times the same question happened, because there was no instant acknowledge that my message was delivered to the group, so I retried two times.

Now I learned that patience is the element, that was missing ;-)

What about CZ1 sounds.
I downloaded some CZ1 patch/banks but they do not seem to work with my CZ101. Am i doing something wrong?

Hi,
I think all the CZ synths are compatible on some level, although maybe in some cases, only by sending entire banks - not sure if single voices can be sent directly over MIDI. But someone with more experience than me can confirm. The CZ-1 manual describes the exact things that can be exchanged with 'lower' CZs, so I thought the -5000 manual would too, but I found a copy and it seems not to. I would _suspect_ it can exchange single and bank voices 'down' to the -3000 and -1000, but I can't be certain.

In any case, I presume clever programmers have released tools that can cleverly convert between any 2 different types of CZ!

My new CZ-1 is waiting in storage to be unwrapped. :-) Enjoy your second -1000!

CZ-1 is an upgrade of the CZ line synthesizers and have a bunch of new features that are not
possible to downgrade to CZ-101, 1000, 3000 and 5000.
Velocity sensitive levels on DCW, DCA, DCO and a new performance mode for example.
That´s not means voices are going to sound totally different because rest of parameter voices
are the same.

CZ-1 voices can be reprogramed on lower CZ series but velocy and performance voices, as I said
before have to be ignored.

Other CZ voices are fully compatible and sound the same between CZ-1 lower models.
