Samples only sound the same everytime they hit if you don't use filters on them. I use heavy filtering on all my samples. I even sample the CZ1 and filter the hell out of those. You can change many things about a sample, pitch, filter, length...a lot of my songs have samples in them and I think they sound convincing. Just use some good high pass filters.
