Re: [CZsynth] CZ-1000 MIDI patch loading

2009-11-20 by Lee Borrell

Are you saying you have the correct MIDI dump procedure and the 1000 is still not responding? Or you do not have the correct procedure?

With MIDI ox - if you are merely dumping from the PC then the DEVICE output should be set to whatever soundcard MIDI device you are using ie MPU401,thence the output from the PC should be connected to the IN on the CZ -that should work.
If it is not working then either the data is incorrect or the CZ is not functioning.

You can check whether MIDI ox actually sent the data by choosing to monitor the output.

Picking up data from the CZ is a tad more complex, since,as you say,it has no front panel request to make the transmission.

In this case - I have done it by using two instances of MIDI ox - one to send the dump request - and the other to pickup the dump.

For this you will need the dump request code message - which I have - but not to hand - I will eventuallly write this up so it can be easily referrred to.

With that SYSx message - the outgoing MIDIox sends the dump request to the CZ via the OUT MPU401 and to the IN on the CZ - the OUT of the CZ goes to the IN on the PC and also to the MPU401 IN device on the 2nd MIDI ox instance -which has been set to receive a manual SYSx dump. Upon sending the SYSx request message from MIDIox instance 1 - MIDIox instance2 should pick up the contents of the CZ.

Note that to request a given memory from the CZ - the code alters in order to reflect which patch is being dumped. There is a SYSX manual (which may also be on the files of this forum) at http://templarseries.atspace.com/CZMANUAL.html

Hello All,

I'm having a problem transferring patches via MIDI to my CZ-1000. I know I've done it with my CZ-1 before. There appears to be no sysex setting on the CZ-1000, but I can get it to receive and send note information via MIDI OX. I tried changing other sysex programs, and I changed the speed of the transmission. Any ideas?

I don't want to be stuck doing the transfers through the cartridge.

Thanks!
