A Crumhorn has a wonderfully buzzy yet musical sound. Imagine a completely untamed bassoon playing in its upper register, or maybe an oboe played through a fuzzbox. A consort of Crumhorns (soprano, alto, tenor and bass) being played together makes a really nice sound, and one which the CZ can emulate quite well.
