If it's any consolation, the manual sucks. >nice sounding defaults on this machine, no? I can't wait to play with >it, but blindly pushing buttons is only for what I do at work :) You may have figured this out already but I can give you a few hints- (and this is from memory, my VZ is unplugged and on the floor across the room now so I can't really verify this) in normal mode (the mode it starts in where you play the preset patches), menu 1 gets you to the voice parameters (envelopes and that sort of thing), menu 2 is effect parameters (settings for modulations wheels and stuff- not stored with patches), and menu 3 is global settings (memory protect, midi channels, etc.). Once you're in one of the menus, use the cursor keys to scroll through them, then once you're on the right menu, press the menu 1/2/3 button to get to the parameters. then change them around, etc. If there's a menu with multiple pages, the up/down keys scroll between them. You can copy parameters for envelopes and things like that between oscillators, or initialize a whole page to save time. The line button shows the oscillator configuration, and the display button shows graphical stuff if you're on an envelope, LFO, keyboard curve, or velocity curve menu. save patches by first turning write protection off, then go back to normal mode, hold the write key while selecting the patch to write (internal A-5 or whatever). I don't know much about the keyboard split/layer mode or operation memories because I don't use them. Multi-channel mode is for multi-timbral setups. Scroll through the channels with the up/down keys and set all of the parameters to your liking. channels 1-4 and 5-8 come out of the different outputs and each set is limited to 8 total voices. Menu 2 has more parameters here, with detune and stuff like that. I hope that's all correct and understandeable. I guess if there are any more enigmas that you can't figure out, you can ask on this list until you can track down a copy of the manual.. _________________________________________________________________ Instant message with integrated webcam using MSN Messenger 6.0.
