Andromeda patch dump - Edit Buffer Problems? Anyone using Midi Quest?
2005-02-08 by Sayer
I posted this on the a6@code404 email list but have not received any replies so I thought I'd try here. I've been trying to get MidiQuest working with the A6 but have run into some problems. A few of them are actually issues with the MQ A6 driver, but others appear to be local. Is there anything unusual about the program buffer on the A6? Midi Quest tries to send a patch to the A6 program buffer and then audition it, but it is not working. I see the sysex received message on the A6, then the message box goes away (but some of it gets left on the display for about 1 second, and then it goes away also), and MQ sends an audition tone which plays the default tone (which is what was there previously) instead of the new patch. I've checked to make sure that MQ is not sending to the actual patch slot by skipping to the next patch on the A6 and then coming back. I've also tried every receive option in the menu under the A6 store button. MQ tech support assures me that others are using this feature for the A6 without any problem. :( In the global menu I do have sysex receive turned on as well as program receive. I can send individual .syx patches using Midi-Ox and they go to the actual program slot (not the buffer). In this case I have the recieve option set to "->Here". So, I'm pretty sure that MQ is sending to the edit buffer. I exported a patch from the MQ format to .syx and the patch was 2349 bytes, which is the proper size for a buffer patch (as opposed to 2350 for a patch that should write to a program slot). But when I send it from Midi-Ox the same behavior happens on the A6, the display shows receiving, then part of the message box goes away, then the rest of the box goes away, but the new patch does not show in the buffer. So, maybe I do not understand how the program buffer works on the A6? Any ideas? Thanks, Sayer
