Alesis Andromeda A6

I just recently purchased an A6 as well as an ION.  I was wondering 
though, I see some reported problems and bugs with the A6.  I was 
wondering why they  have not come out with a software update since 
1.40.12 dated back in 2002 of april to fix some of these additional 
bugs?

I have a question for all of you who own one or have owned one.

Have any of you had any repair issues at all?

I have heard a few things which may be minor or not like the OSC 
going out etc?

If you're talking about the A6... The VCOs going out is normal. 
Analog components are sensitive to temperature of the environment.

I just had the bugg problme of the FXs sometimes, rarely thoug, when 
i play around and edit one of the parameters, the OS freezes and when 
i change the Fx of a preset, the name of the new FX selected doesn't 
appear on the first screen of the FX unit.

REPAIRS:

I got a refurb from ZZounds. It lasted about two days, then started 
making crackling noises, then went beserko. None of the oscs would 
tune, the "patches" sounded like the product of a bad random-patch 
generator, if they sounded at all. I never tried to see if MIDI i/o 
was affected.

Zzounds sent another refurb, and it has been fine ever since.

I did notice, however, that the CV in is not quite linear, no true 
1V/oct for 0-5V range. Comes close, though. I don't think it was 
designed for true CV pitch-to-MIDI conversion, though this sure 
woulda' been a swell feature!
