Will Andromeda replace my Roland JX-10 and Oberheim Matrix-6R?

Will Andromeda replace my Roland JX-10 and Oberheim Matrix-6R?

2003-04-16 by synthman_909

Hi, Andromeda users. The question I want to ask is statet in the
subject field (Will Andromeda replace my Roland JX-10 and Oberheim
Matrix-6R?). I have to sell them in order to afford A6 and these
synths are quite hard to find here in Russia (especialy PG-800
Programmer for JX-10). The bad thing is that I have to sell them now
without listening to Andromeda in real, but I'v downloaded about
every mp3 demo of A6 from the internet and have read about every
forum devoted to Andromeda. Nobody tells if A6 can replace the sound
of these synths. If I sell them I probabaly never get them back and I
don't want to miss them. So does anybody here have all above
mentioned synths and compared them? Any opinions and information are
welcomed.

Thank you.
Nikolay

imo the jx10 was never a strong instument.. The andro is not "roland"'ish..
So the matrix6 is more close in this case..

Even if the roland jx10 is not my favourite: do not expekt the a6 to replace
it (sound). But functionally it is far better!!..

Hope you get me right here! the jx10 is a dual jx8p, that never reached the
qualites of a jupiter 8 , but it still sounds ROLAND. And the a6 doesn¹t!
It has moog and oberheim filters..

If you have listened to the a6, you may know what I mean..

If you want the a6 for its sound and live-capability it is the right one.
everything is better than in the jx10.

The matrix 6: is a good synth, with the andro you will hace access to FASTER
ENVs.. The LFOs are still very slow on the a6.. Maybe you already know.. But
not slower than those of the matrix.

So: in your case I'd do this.. ;)
Why? The machine, that you get gives a lot back to the music!! wasn't this
the idea behind it?..

I hope I did not offend the roland folks here.. ;)

Hi Nikolay,

We bought the A6 a couple of weeks ago.

We also had the Matrix 6R which is a nice synth.

In mine opinion the A6 blows away the matrix.

For instance the bas of a A6 is so much richer and fatter then a
matrix.

there are some typical sounds in the matrix I didn't hear on the A6 but
if you talk about for example brass

it's the same character in sound.

For the JX-10 I don't know but friends who visit our studio are all
telling the same thing.

With the A6, a sampler and computer you don't need nothing more.

Of course we have much more but maybe it can give you an idea how people
give me their response after hearing this synth.

Goodluck with your decision.

Thank you guys for your replyes :-)

Actualy I worried more about Matrix's pads. In Roland department I
still have SH-101, Juno-106, Jp-8080, JV-2080.
My other synths:
Novation DrumStation
Electron Machinedrum (soon)
E-mu E4 Platinum
Studio Electronics Omega 2
Korg MS-20
Access Virus b

Ok. I decided. Tomorow I'l go to the shop and order A6.
Good luck.
Nikolay.

The A6 will take you far beyond what the JX-10 and the Matrix-6R can
do. You will not be disapponted, so don't worry. The Andromeda is
more powerful than your current gear. Just sell those two things and
never look back. It is worth the risk.
