Alesis Andromeda A6

I'm really waiting to hear the price. Does anyone have an idea of 
what the IOn will go for. The pick looks cool, I actually wish they 
would put more mixed colored buttons. I hope they keep the red side 
panels. I would like to to see more color in it.


I'm lookin at the iON , Novation KS-4, and Waldorf Xtk. I just bought 
a OB 12 and a XTK (with 30 voices). But by April/May, I will have a 
good idea of what to buy. I'll only keep one keyboard (one of the 4 
mentioned above).


The major thing that is really discouraging to me about the ION is 
that it has only 8 voice polyphony (w/ 4 parts). That's not too cool. 
I could make due with 12 voices, but 8 isn't enough. IF there was an 
expansion option I wouldn't worry about it. But that spec. alone 
kinda puts it below the other synths I listed.

The idea with only 8 voice Polyphony and 500MIPS DSP power is to 
make a more analog sound.

list of $999 so expect $200 or so less street - then again the quadrasynths
are 1/3rd off so who knows?

i liked what i heard at NAMM (after some tweaking of the naff presets) so
may end up buying one.  i got some quite nice pics too from the show -

Nice pics! I don't know, but I think I'm going to get this. I have a 
Waldorf XTK 30 that I might sell. Or I will buy the Novation KS-4. I 
don't which would be best. Any suggestions? :)

How did the knobs feel? I personally like the colors, I think the 
more varied colors, the better.

Alesis ION with Novation KS-Rack maybe If you like KS.

KS-rack cost £599 not sure the US price.

the ion & xtk have vastly different sound sets - you sure you wanna sell the

No. :)  This is a difficult decision. But to make it easier, I have a 
Waldorf Microwave 1 and 2. I just got the MW1 software editor from 
Soundtower and it works great. So being that I have MW 2, what would 
you do? Sell the MW 2, keep the Xtk? Get a KS-4 or iON? I don't think 
I'll have enouhg to keep a keyboard and get a KS rack, so I have to 
pick one of the above. It's difficult, but I kinda lean a little to 
the IoN because it's got 3 osc and it's knew to people's ears. IS the 
ioN supposed to be really different from the Andromeda?

i'd personally keep the XTk due to its interface being better than the MWII.
i have a MWxt & a Q which are serving me well - primarily because the
programming interface is simple & easy - very little menu surfing.  i also
have a pile of other gear - most of them have knobs on!

Then that would mean that I can't get an IoN or KS-4. Would you 
rather have MW 2 and iON or a XTK alone?

if the question is as blunt as that then the XTk would have to go. the MW2 &
MWxt have the same sounds and the Ion is looking like it could kick some
serious buttage, so the MW2+Ion would be my choice.
