well if your tracking the A6 IMO a limiter or soft-clipper
works best to trim the transients. Some Convertors have them built in.
I don't like to track with EQ or compression. I leave that to the mix stage,
when you hear
the audio with the rest of the other stuff.

But some lightly coloured valve flavour doesn't hurt :)
