The A6 has a very thick sound, it's very close to a Moog, but a little more bright in the upper frequencies. It's definately fatter and thicker than both the Z1 (which i own) and the NL2 (which I played many times), so if you are looking for thickness, you will find it in the A6. It CAN sound fairly close to a prophet, but it's useful to have an EQ handy to alter the A6's tendency to push out more energy in the 250-400hz range. A lot of the famous 'classic' prophet sounds can easily be mimicked by using two oscillators (slightly detuned) and running the signal through filter 1 and 2 in a series (it thickens the sound a great deal, even when filter 1 is just open). It will definately sound more 'Prophet' than a Nord, but I would still try and use one first-hand before buying. Also, consider the Alesis Ion, it has a bunch of filter types, and sounds thick (without overdoing it). The A6 is still much more beast-like in it's output.
