Long story short: the Ion doesn't have delay because it doesn't have reverb. Why doesn't it have reverb? That's a long story, I'll stick to delay, here. :P The Ion's effects chip is very powerful. It can do crazy filter-based effects like a 40-band vocoder or a 64-stage phaser. It doesn't have very much delay memory, however. So, no reverbs or long delays. The Ion does have a short slap-back delay effect, but the max time is 80ms. We will be adding more effects in future OS updates. Among these will be longer delays. As you noted, we can't add memory with a software update, but we can do get longer times out of what we have with compression techniques (think MP3). It's unlikely the max delay time will get over 500ms, but it should still be a very useable improvement.
