They can have the option of using a form of audio compression, and it sounds great to my ears! ( nothing like MP3, at ANY rate") the only problem is that you will notice the comression after bouncing tracks a lot. I do beacause my 1680 is only 16 tracks, but enough for my projects.... So you might use the non-compressed format, but I beleive, at expense of half the tracks... I will be using the AUX signal of the A6 to an ART Dual MP tube preamp for "rounding" the sound, and then to a Lexicon MPX500, then digital to the VS. (Using the Lexicon 24 bit A/D ). The A6 mains with FX all wet will go directly to the VS as to have a reference between the two results.... a final test for the "wedge" ( very easy to overload ) The VS has very good digital A/D and internal FX, all in the digital domain, so the mixes are very clean. But using ONLY the Roland FX can have a very familiar feel.... The internal Roland FX are very, very clean, and since all the sends and returns are internal in the digital domain, no overloads! I love analogue, but digital has it's place in recording.... Ant.
