if this is a hobby thing, just purchase a NetCallerID unit ($10) and connect its serial data port to the RS232 port of the AVR. I� have visual basic 6 code running on Windows�for this unit interfaced to my home automation PC.� It logs all calls, speaks the caller's name based on a lookup in my databases rather than the name in the CID from the phone company, and sends CID notices to all PCs on my home LAN as an IP Multicast to a GUI. The AVR code to simply�parse the CID data would be similar.
