ATmega 168

ATmega 168

2005-08-16 by Dennis

Anyone know of a source for ATmega 168 in P-DIP package. Atmel sample stock is down to zippo on the 28 pin plastic.
Bummer since SDK500 uses only DIP packs. Have checked disty stock and seems to be in the same shape as Atmel sample stock.
Thanks
Dennis

I have a sneaky suspicion that Atmel is attemptig to phase out their
P-DIP packaging altogether. This is a pity, as prototyping with SMD
packages is difficult at best, and very expensive if you have to
purchase sockets or adapters.

I had "ES" packages, i.e. preproduction. INT1 is like the Kingston Trio song
about Charlie on the MTA. He got on and never returned. All other INTs work.
If they phase out P-DIPs will they supply adapters to the SDK500? Maybe my
friendly rep can find out. Or maybe apps engineer in Dallas
