I am looking for a source for a large character LCD display. At least 16 x 2 characters. 20 x 4 might be OK too (vertical space might be an issue). I'd like the characters to be 9mm high or slightly more. Needs a back light. I know they are around, but I can not find a definite source. -Tony

Farnell have some of the blue LCDs from Everbouquet, including this one: http://www.everbouquet.com.tw/MC1602J.htm (farnell 5005231) with a 9.66mm character. We've got some 16X1 units at work and they're really sexy displays :-) Richard --- "Iz dana u dan ona dolazi i odlazi u talasima" http://www.van-gogh.co.yu/

I will check out the sources you mentioned. Size is a little factor bacause the display will be at arm's length away. Good contrast and visibility in bright surroundings is really important. I will check out the PLED's -Tony --- In AVR-Chat@yahoogroups.com, Ralph Hilton <ralph@r...> wrote: > On Sun, 10 Apr 2005 14:38:03 +0100 you wrote: > > > > >Tony: > >> I am looking for a source for a large character LCD display. They are currently set up for 19.2K baud but I can change the firmware to make it slower or hardware selectable (e.g. 2400/19.2K). If the point of having a large display is visibility then you might also look at PLED displays. They aren't as big as you stated but I find the visibility better than larger LCDs. http://www.onestopdisplays.net/main.php -- Ralph Hilton http://www.ralphhilton.org C-Meter: http://www.cmeter.org FZAOINT http://www.fzaoint.net

They may be smaller characters, but the clarity might be better. A note for the Everbouquet displays - a contrast pot is really important. Some displays I've used are fine with Vo at 0V, but not these ones. Richard --- "Iz dana u dan ona dolazi i odlazi u talasima" http://www.van-gogh.co.yu/

Wow, those CFD's look bright. I guess "F" is "Fluorescent"? If so, then they probably work well with polarized sunglasses too... -Tony --- In AVR-Chat@yahoogroups.com, "Richard Reeves" <r_reeves@b...> wrote: > Tony: > > I will check out the sources you mentioned.
