I use Bascom as well, mainly because I'm too lazy to write it in C, and because I find it easier, and it's great. I recognize the versatility of C and I'll get there eventually, but Bascom's excellent and quite powerful in the meantime.
As to the user group here on Yahoo, it doesn't seem like there's a moderator and yes, solidarity seems to be lacking, but if you stick with it, it's a great compiler. I've programmed three different robots with Bascom.
