AVRISP

A while back there was a thread about problems updating the AVRISP and STK500 software. I thought this was fixed in the current version but apparently was wrong.
I updated AStudio to v4.06 and then when attempting to program a board it wanted to update the AVRISP. I did that. At completion there was an error indicated, don't remember exactly what it was now, and now nobody sees the AVRISP.
I haven't been able to locate what the fix was for this problem or the thread where it was cussed.
Can anyone guide me in the right direction?
