I certainly didn't mean to imply that I would get flamed here.  I was speaking
about finding another list for non-AVR questions that is as helpful as this
list.  I have seen nothing but helpful folks here.

Thanks to all for your responses, I'm off to check the resources, data sheets,
etc. suggested ...
