Ok, I'm sitting here with a new M128 prototype, that's giving me fits. I can't program it with AVRISP. Studio (latest version) tells me that it can't see the programmer, which is on COM1 a "real" hardware serial port. I get the proper LED dance on powerup on the AVRISP, so that should mean that everything's fine, and at least studio should be able to see the AVRISP connected. I can load it and run it with the Jtag ICE using the same serial cable. I can single-step, and breakpoint. Wierd things happen, like RAM is always 0000, and although the stack pointer is set to 10FF, any return returns to RESET. LDI temp,XX shows XX in the TEMP register in the register view, but a subsequent STS shows only 00 in ram. When I try to set the fuses with the Jtag ice I get the same message about not finding the programmer. So, I have a M128 in factory default (m103 compatibility) and I can't get it out of that mode, because studio refuses to "see" any device programmer I have. The system is a M128L running at 8 MHz, on 3.3VDC. I've used this same AVRISP to develop on 3V systems before, without trouble.
