Motor protection

Hi all!

I have this application that controls a 220W AC motor.
This motor needs some protection.
And the Mega16 need to know about it.
Do any of you guys know of a cuircuit or any chip to sense the current to 
the motor,
and give the Mega16 feedback, so the motor can bee shut down.
