hi.
one of common problems, ( and simplest) is to check
wether you set parallel port to SPP in setup or not.
if so, (in [INTEGRATED PREFERALS] section) change it
to ECP or EPP.

anyway in these moments, I used to use ponyprog or
Avreal. both are free and ofcourse great.
