Good question. I've heard of the Ponyprog but I'm not familiar with it. I thought it just programmed PIC's. I use a MicroEngineering EPIC Plus programmer for PIC's and have had no trouble with it at all. They update their software every time a new device comes out. I have had no trouble with my STK500 for AVR's so far, either. Maybe it's a software problem? It would have to be either that or something wrong with the programmer hardware.
