Atari ST - Steem

2005-10-24 by jshawken

Hello, I'm new to the group, but not to Atari ST's. I've owned at
least one of every model they produced except the portable at one
time or another. My last 1040STe died in storage and I tried to give
the rest of my stuff away, but no one wanted it. So, untill I was
searching for a Kawai K1 editor and sequencer for the PC that was
half as good as the software I used on the ST, I'd left the Atari ST
community.

I downloaded STeem yesterday and so far it works great! The only
software I kept for the ST was my midi software and music files. My
favorite sequencer for performances was Advanced Midisoft Studio
because it was easy to set up a bank dump as a .sng file and every
directory of my hard drive had a setup.sng file that installed all
the patches to my keyboard for the music in that directory. Then
while the patches loaded into the keyboard, I could load the first
song to be played. Nothing I've found on the PC will play one song
while it's loading another. Plus editing the midi data just stinks.

My old K1 is 300 miles away but I'll try it with the emulator in a
couple of weeks! I've got so much music that I've not heard in
years.
