What I found out meanwhile is:

The MidiPlexer is using the HardDisk port with a through-
configuration.

Quoting http://

"On the rear is a cable marked DMA In and on the other end of this 
cable is a 19 Pin male DMA plug. There is also a port marked DMA Out 
which is a 19 pin female type connector."

available.
Steinberg Midex+ doesn't look suitable without the supporting 
Steinberg software. How should the ROM port know anything which is 
adressed to the HardDisk port?)
