I just wish people would stop quoting entire threads and digests to add in a one or two line comment or answer. I see 35K size for a digest when reading on yahoo.com and think there's lots of great info in the digest only to discover there's about 3 useful lines of text and 35 pages of quoted material including requoted list footers.

I have to say that I agree with both of you and while I've tried to implore list members to
follow proper netiquette, it's a fine line between enforcing some standards and 'nagging' -
- at which point people will either tune out or stop participating entirely. Some self
policing - such as the above - goes a long way in my opinion.

So without intent to insult anybody, here is a link to an article regarding Email Etiquette
which we could all review:

Try this instead:

http://www.iwillfollow.com/

and select the 'Email Etiquette' link from there.

Because I don't have time for all that.

Email etiquette (was Re: [AN1x] Digest Number 1651)

Methinks perspective required is. Rather than get all heated over the
extra FEW seconds it takes to hold the down arrow to scroll, perhaps a
week in a local homeless shelter working with people who can only
dream of one day having a warm safe home never mind a PC to connect to
the internet and have the absolute pleasure of reading other people's
thoughts. I hear them saying, "There's a netiquette??. I have to
SCROLL?? I am off back to my cardboard box and water soup".

It amazes me how often this comes up. Who cares? If you do care, you
need something else to care about and on a much grander scale than
this. Somehwere on this subject a post was made talking about having
no time to link an entire etiquette page to the group, but the time
was taken to find such a page in the first place and post a link to it
up there several times, even correcting it when it apparently did not
work.

C'mon people, there are much bigger fish to fry.

Um, when one is involved in a group in society, usually there are rules set
which enhance the system for use by others. Take a neighborhood civic group for
instance, which doesn't allow parking large vehicles on the street. First, it
enhances the view and second it removes an inconvenience when driving.

So what do you think deletion of trailing messages and old stuff has to do with?
Think of the archives my friend. Have you ever tried searching an archive for a
topic only to find 12 thousand incidents of your keywords -- and only 6 messages
were pertinent due to sloppy "netiquette"?

We're here to help each other. Think of it as a soup kitchen (free stuff) for
synth users. Don't throw your trash on my cardboard box, if you don't mind.
