RE: [AN1x] Digest Number 1599

I bought a second hand AN1x - actually had been used by The Bluetones
keyboard player. Unfortunately, it is full of Bluetones voices, a lot of
which are a bit dull. I'm sure they were an important and integral part of
the Bluetones music, but not what I want to use.

So, I am tempted to reset the sounds to the factory settings - but I don't
know whether these are going to be any more interesting!

Does anyone have a list of what the factory setting voices are?

thanks

Frank

Reset them. If you want, get anixedit or just any MIDI program that can do a system dump, if you want to keep them just in case, but really...what's the point?

I mean, you say they are dull, so I don't really get why you are even thinking twice about it...
IF the presets were just as dull or duller you still would have to either make your own or sell the thing (and I assume you bought this because you know it can get some good sounds)
If they are better (pretty certain they are) then you win, but if they are still not what you really want you gotta program some right?

reset it!

Hey Paul, welcome to the list.

Why don't you download AN1xEdit (you'll find the link to this group's
web site at the bottom of this message) and store the Bluetones' voices,
before doing a factory reset?

The preset voices of the AN1x are mostly used to show off the unit, and
except for a few gems like 'Legato' (preset 10) probably not very useful
in a mix.

Then again, the fun of the AN1x is to build your own voices!

Good luck,

- Peter

You can download the Datalist from
http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/pdf/emi/english/synth/AN1XE2.PDF
. It contains many lists including the Factory Voice
List.
